Top Gear icon Jeremy Clarkson has been obliged to introduce changes at his Diddly Squat farm in Oxfordshire, following a painful health setback that left him suffering greatly.

In his latest book 'Diddly Squat: Home to Roost', the 64 year old presenter divulges the cause of his discomfort.

He detailed: "Half my farm is brambles and nettles, so I came up with a plan to harvest the nettles for soup. At first I tried the same machines they use for harvesting tea, but it was suspended from my shoulders, so my back was soon in agony."

Subsequent attempts to alleviate the pain also misfired when he said, about an alternative nettle collection method: "Then I switched to a bigger device with a hedge-cutter underneath and a fan for blowing the leaves into a collecting bag."

"It did well sucking up top leaves but it scooped up stalks too, along with twigs, deceased rodents and all the forest floor's detritus. Convincing people to taste nettle soup is one thing; selling them a product that warns, 'May contain bits of deer droppings' is quite another.", reports Gloucestershire Live.

This ordeal is among several health concerns for the current 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' host who previously shared last week about experiencing "tightness in my chest" and "pins and needles in my left arm" prompting an ambulance rush to hospital to investigate these warning signs.

Following an electrocardiogram (ECG) that ruled out a heart attack, Clarkson revealed that his doctors warned him he may have been mere days from a more severe health crisis.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, he explained: "It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way."
