Jinger Vuolo (née Duggar) revealed that her family didn’t always like how their reality shows 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On were edited.
“Maybe we felt like some things might have started to be cut in a way that we didn’t like it,” Jinger, 31, said on the Wednesday, October 30, episode of the “Jinger & Jeremy Podcast,” which she cohosts with husband Jeremy Vuolo. “And it was like, ‘I didn’t say that.’”
Jinger – who starred on the show alongside parents Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar and her 18 siblings – added that the scenes that aired on the show didn’t always line up with her family’s recollection.
“Or I rolled my eyes in an interview [then] they put in there next to something I said about my mom and dad,” she claimed. “And it was like, ‘No I didn’t mean that.’”
The family would often watch the “rough cuts” of episodes before they aired on TV, and they would go back and watch the “reruns” to “see if they put in anything like that.”
Jinger explained that they would watch the show to relive memories, such as a “fun trip” they took together. “It’s like our home videos really because so many years before it came out my parents were really good about taking home videos of those,” she said.
However, the former reality star said that the authentic home videos “faded into the background” as TLC seemingly chose to air “fully produced home videos” instead.
19 Kids and Counting aired on TLC from 2008 until 2015, and several of the family members continued appearing on the network on Counting On from 2015 until 2020.
While Jinger is no longer a reality star, she has continued to keep fans up to date about her personal life through social media, her podcast and her books.
One exciting update that she recently shared earlier in October is that she and Jeremy, 37, are expecting baby No. 3.
“When she told me, I was literally speechless,” Jeremy told People about learning that Jinger is pregnant. “She got me good. It was on Felicity’s birthday. Jinger says, ‘I’ve got a gift for you.’ It was in an Amazon bag. So I’m thinking, ‘What did she get from Amazon for me?’ Then I open it up and it’s the positive result, and I’m actually speechless.”
Meanwhile, Jinger also revealed how she told Michelle, 58, and her sisters that she’s expecting during sister Jana Wissmann (née Duggar)‘s bachelorette weekend in L.A.
“They had a big hot tub and they’re like, ‘We’re all going to go enjoy the hot tub later,’” Jinger recalled to People on October 25. “They said, ‘Unless anybody has any news to share…’ Because you’re not supposed to sit in the hot tub when you’re pregnant.”
While Jinger didn’t immediately tell her family that she’s expecting, she said that she texted Jeremy to ask his opinion about sharing the news. “I texted him and I was like, ‘Should I just tell them tonight?’ And he said, ‘Of course. That’s so special. They’re all there together,’” she said. “So my mom and sisters, they all went in the hot tub and then I came out later. They noticed I was sitting on the edge, but I didn’t say anything.”
After her family encouraged her to get in the hot tub, Jinger eventually decided to reveal the news. “I was like, ‘Well, I guess you shouldn’t do that if you’re pregnant, right?’” she said. “They just were so shocked. They were the cutest. I was able to tell them all together.”
