Kailyn Lowry might have quit Teen Mom three years ago, but she revealed she’s not completely done with the franchise when she made a surprise appearance in a teaser for upcoming episodes.
In a teaser clip for the remainder of season 2 of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter shared by Page Six, Kailyn, 32, was seen reuniting with costars Catelynn Baltierra and Tyler Baltierra. “Hey!” she said to the couple, while Tyler, 33, happily responded, “What are you doing here?” Kailyn kept the joke going as she asked back, “What are you doing here?”
While the reason behind Kailyn’s return has not yet been revealed, it’s believed that she reunited with Catelynn, 32, Tyler and Maci Bookout to discuss the latest season’s drama.
At one point in the clip, Catelynn opened up about the challenges she and Tyler had been facing regarding their relationship with their daughter Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon Davis and Teresa Davis.
“Teresa said she needs to have a very sincere apology,” Catelynn said. “I deserve a f–king apology.”
As fans of the MTV show know, Catelynn and Tyler gave Carly up for adoption when she was born. They used to have frequent visits with Brandon, Teresa and Carly, though they eventually stepped out of the spotlight and cut back on communication with Catelynn and Tyler.
Kailyn first made her reality TV debut during season 2 of 16 and Pregnant, and she went on to appear on Teen Mom 2 from 2011 until 2022. After the shows were combined to Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Kailyn chose to stop appearing on MTV.
In October 2024, Kailyn shared more insight into her exit and explained that her pregnancy with baby No. 5, son Rio, influenced her decision.
“Yeah, I left in 2022 when I got pregnant with my fifth son,” she said while appearing on the “Just Trish” podcast. “Because I was like, ‘I can’t, we’re not doing this.’”
While Kailyn is still in a relationship with Rio’s dad, Elijah Scott, and they also share twins Verse and Valley, 15 months, she explained their relationship was too new to expose it on the show. “We did not plan to get pregnant,” she said. “It was the first time I slept with him. And we had just developed a relationship.”
Kailyn added that it would have been “a lot” for Elijah to appear on the show given the status of their relationship.
However, Kailyn admitted that there were “a lot of reasons” she didn’t star on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.
“Elijah had not been on TV. My podcast became super successful. I was making more money on the podcast than I was on Teen Mom,” Kailyn said, adding that she “couldn’t justify the stress I was going through” on the show.
The former reality star continued, “I felt like I would give them this laundry list of things that I wanted to film, but they only wanted to talk about the relationships that I had with my kids’ dads. That’s old and tired, right? I have other drama, I can give you drama, I’ll do whatever you want, but let’s talk about it.”
