The Prince and Princess of Wales have been relishing a lengthy Christmas break with their three children, but it appears that this is about to conclude.
The royal couple will soon return to their everyday lives with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Over the festive period, the family retreated to Anmer Hall in Norfolk, their country getaway where they typically spend school holidays. This provided an opportunity for quality time and being located on the Sandringham estate allowed them to join King Charles and the rest of the Royal Family for Christmas festivities.
However, as the children are due back at Lambrook School tomorrow (January 8), William, Kate, and the kids will need to journey back to their Adelaide Cottage home in Windsor to ensure the children are prepared for school on Wednesday. This also means that Kate will celebrate her 43rd birthday in Windsor on Thursday, with William and their three children undoubtedly planning to make her day special.
This comes exactly one year after the Prince and Princess of Wales faced a very uncertain 2024.
A year ago, Kate underwent major abdominal surgery and shortly afterwards shared her cancer diagnosis, announcing the start of her treatment. Having taken a step back from public engagements for most of the year, she finished her chemotherapy and has recently been easing back into royal duties.
Her appearance at the Royal Family's Christmas Day church walk at Sandringham, where she was showered with flowers and gifts from well-wishers, sparked speculation about her return to a full-time royal role as 2025 approaches, especially following her recent engagements like the Christmas Carol Concert at Westminster Abbey.
However, a royal source has indicated that fans may need to remain patient for Kate's regular return to official engagements.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the insider explained: "There is no huge reset button that's going to be hit in January. What we will actually see is a slow continuation of the Princess balancing her recovery and her public-facing duties, as she outlined back in September [when she warned her recovery was still ongoing despite having completed her chemotherapy].

"Cancer impacts on your perspective, and what you have seen in the decisions they have made over the last year is that family and their children continue to be at the centre of their universe. Both Their Royal Highnesses have a strong commitment to duty, service and using their platform for good. But what they are working on is ways they can balance themselves as parents with being the Prince and Princess of Wales."
Additionally, it's reported that there are no plans for any extensive foreign tours for Kate, but she might accompany William on shorter trips if she feels up to it. William is expected to undertake several overseas visits in the near future.
