Kay Burley has shared exciting news with fans as she reflected on her career at Sky News.
The 63-year-old has built a journalism and television career spanning over 40 years.
Joining Sky News at its launch in 1988, she has since become one of the channel’s most recognised faces. She is known for her hard-hitting interviews and in-depth political coverage. She currently presents her own breakfast show on the channel, Kay Burley at Breakfast.
In a recent post on X, Kay marked the milestone with her followers, sharing a photo of herself lounging on a large blue sofa in a glamorous white mini dress and heels.
Her caption read: “Thirty-six years today@skynews and counting…"
Fans were quick to congratulate Kay on her success. One person said: "Keep up the good work. Without a doubt one of the finest on television currently. Simply oozes confidence and ìn a class of your own."
A second wrote: "Wonderful achievement Kay. Congratulations." A third person said: "Congratulations Kay , may your excellent work continue." A fourth person chimed in: "Keep up the great work, Kay. Even today I still watch you through a big satellite dish and I wouldn't have it any other way!"
Kay started out in journalism at age 17, reporting for her local newspaper. She joined TV-AM in 1985 before being poached by Sky News ahead of the channel’s 1989 launch.

When asked about adjusting to early mornings, Kay reflected on how her routine has evolved over the years, saying: "As you get older, you don’t need as much sleep. It’s actually easier now than when I was in my 20s working for TV-AM," she told the Guardian in 2019.
Opening up about the hate she receives from trolls on social media, she fiercely said: "If my family tell me I should’ve done something differently, then I’ll stop and think about it. But if it’s fiftysomething keyboard warriors with no hair and balcony bellies, pumping out abuse in their basement while waiting for their mums to call them up for their tea, I don’t care what they think."
