Kerry Katona issues powerful statement after 'joking' over 'split'f from fiancé

Kerry Katona has confirmed that her shock split from her fiancé Ryan Mahoney was nothing more than a joke.

The 44-year-old Atomic Kitten star has been dating fitness trainer Ryan, 36, since 2018 - and they became engaged in 2020. But this week, fans were left shellshocked when mum-of-five Kerry took to social media to declare that she was single.

The Whole Again singer was visiting her sick mum Sue in hospital when she began interacting with fans via social media - when her apparent bombshell news was dropped. When her friend, Danielle Brown asked: "So much love to you both, and is the Dr single?" the singer-turned OnlyFans star cheekily responded back to the fan, writing: "No, but I am!"

But now Kerry has set the record straight to reveal she was only joking about breaking up with the man who she has called her other half for the past six years. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the former singer went to the length of posting a caption on her Stories to make it crystal clear that she was having a laugh.

She typed: "This is not me confirming that I have split with @ryanmahoney_7 at all!!! This was me, my mum and my best friend having a laugh about the Doctor trying to cheer my mother up!!!" She then shared even more details about her humourous comment in a post that was on her grid.

The star wrote: "So I see the papers have taken a joke between me, my mum and best friend about a dr!!!! Ffs I even put a laughing face!!!! My mum has the funniest sense of humour and we was all just playing along with her!"

She then added: "Never thought journalist will be scrolling through 1500 comments and run a headline that I have split with @ryanmahoney_7 all because we were trying to cheer my mum up! I’ve confirmed nothing!!!!!! Everyone else could see that this was light humour!!!!"

Fans were quick to back up Kerry - with some encouraging her to make other comments to generate false headlines. One fan commented: "I think it's funny I'd be making fake news on the daily" alongside a string of crying-with-laughter emojis.

In a recent interview, Kerry surprised her fans when she revealed she had given Ryan a 'free pass' to have children with someone else as she couldn't face going through pregnancy herself again. She told OK! Magazine: "I don't want to deprive him [though] - in fact, I've given him a pass and said 'if this is something you want to pursue, leave me now!' I never want someone to not have that feeling of having their own child.

"Me and my kids should be enough for Ryan, and actually, I know we are... I should be more than enough. If I'm not, Ryan can always go off with a younger model and have a baby with her!"
