Kerry Katona says 'it's just sand' after Dean McCullough's I'm A Celebrity fail

1 week ago 6

Kerry Katona appeared to rib Dean McCullough for ending his I'm A Celebrity Bushtucker trial early as she pointed out: "It was a bit of sand."

Dean is one of the campers in the new series of the ITV reality show and struggled with the Sinister Sarcophagus trial, which saw him locked in a clear coffin-like box as sand started filling it. He yelled "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" to end the trial, before telling hosts Ant and Dec: "It was my legs, I couldn't move my legs. I'm sorry... if there was no sand, I would still be in there."

Speaking on GB News, former I'm A Celebrity camper Kerry said: "What people don't understand is when you have a genuine fear like, and the thing is, it was sand, you know what I mean? It was a bit of sand. We all go on the beach."

However, she went on: "But when you have a genuine fear of being claustrophobic and you're not being able to face that fear - I mean I actually did say ‘I’m a celebrity to get me out of here’ on one of my final trials, when they wanted to put all these cockroaches on me.

"And when you're in that moment, it is so terrifying. But when you're sat on your sofa at home watching it, you go, ‘I’ll be able to do that’."

“It is a million times worse than what we actually see on the telly," said the star, who was crowned Queen of the Jungle in her series. "But when you are in there, it's horrendous."

Dean struggled with his I'm A Celeb challenge

Kerry went on to say "fair play" to Dean because he attempted the challenge. But, apparently referring to the show's hosts Ant and Dec, she added: "I think the lads were a bit gutted, because I think it was quite an expensive rig.”

Speaking on spin-off show I’m A Celebrity Unpacked, Ant and Dec did admit to being a bit disappointed that viewers didn’t get the chance to see the full trial after Dean bailed out of it early.

The star ended up quitting the trial

“We are genuinely disappointed because you are prepared to do the whole trial and you want to see the whole thing," said Dec. "There is a lot of time gone into the trials so when it’s called early you are like, ‘Oh'."

Ant added that they had been "really enjoying it", but Dec admitted: "On the other side we’re like, 'Oh a bit of an early finish, let’s get out and get a suntan'."
