NO matter what Kim Kardashian steps out wearing, she is always going to turn heads and hit headlines.
And it seems the glamorous reality star's fashion choices have shifted into reverse with her going back to her old pre-Kanye West sense of style.
The iconic mum-of-four, 42, has recently been snapped wearing pencil skirts and courts shoes which feels like a throwback to the Noughties and her meteoric rise to fame era.
Gone are the latex suits, knee-high boots and eye-popping wigs that Kim was seen wearing with her ex-husband during their marriage from 2014 to 2022.
Fashion editor Amber Graafland, who has 25 years of experience writing about celeb style, tells Fabulous: “Her latest look is very, very familiar.
“Why? Because we’ve seen it all before on her.
“Kim seems to have gone backwards with her style and has been revisiting some of her original looks.
“Through the 2000s and 2010s she seemed to stick to a set of style codes.
“She loved a pencil skirt, a stiletto heel, a figure-hugging bandage dress, a waist cinching belt and a pair of skinny jeans.”
The Kanye era
When Kim married rapper Kanye in 2014, we saw the stunning star overhaul her style.
Amber says: “The Yeezy designer took control of her wardrobe, and Kim’s style diverged a million miles from her former self.
Kim Kardashian's Beauty Secrets: Inside Her Aesthetic Transformations
“Kanye would go to extremes to control her image, once flying out to Paris for 24 hours just to style her.
“She was completely reliant on his opinion, and it damaged her psychologically.
“Post divorce she felt like she lost her security blanket."
Kim hit headlines during her marriage to Kanye for her risqué boundary pushing fashion choices.
They included a black Givenchy outfit in 2014, the latex dress for her fragrance launch in 2014 and the sheer black off the shoulder Galliano dress at the 2016 MTV VMAs.
Not forgetting the barely-there crochet Balenciaga dress in 2017, a Cher inspired Thierry Mugler dress at the Met Gala after party in 2019, and her see-through Thierry Mugler 'wet' Met Gala dress in 2019 which were all serious head turners.
Kim revealed in an episode of The Kardashians: "I definitely see what I like, but I've never really been the visionary.
“Kanye would come in and be like, 'You should do your hair like this. You should do your makeup like this.'
“That's his love language, it's clothes. I always just trusted in him."
Post-Kanye ‘U-turn’
Kim filed for divorce from Kanye on February 19, 2021, after almost seven years of marriage, and it was finalised on November 29, 2022.
Despite Kim openly admitting she struggled to find her own style post divorce, Amber says there's been a definite shift since those doubts.
“‘Trusting her gut’ was something she struggled with post divorce," she reveals.
“Post Kanye, Kim seems to have undergone a 360-degree style U-turn. The pencil skirts are back, we are seeing a lot of pointy stilettos… and even her hair is back to its 2000s heyday."
Amber says whilst Kim relied heavily on her Kanye's opinion, she is now enjoying her new-found freedom with fashion.
“Kim has regained her confidence and is rediscovering her old self," she explains.
“It's only recently that she's refound the confidence to make her own opinions, and push back on other people.
“She's been forced to trust her own styling instincts and is enjoying fashion again.”
Who is Kim Kardashian's stylist?
THE woman behind many of Kim Kardashian's iconic looks is Dani Levy, who has worked with number celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, and Justin Timberlake.
Before securing her A-list clients, Dani would scoured stylist websites and bombarded them with emails and would send up to 60 a day.
She offered to work for free to get her foot in the door, but eventually started getting paid gigs.
Within months, she had her first celebrity clients, and her paths crossed with Kanye West, when she was assisting Rihanna's stylist.
Dani said: "One day he told me that Kim was in her second pregnancy and not leaving the house, and asked if I could come dress her. I went, we met, and she was amazing."
Following the divorce, Dani stayed with Kim and called her "family."
She said: "In my contract, I can work with whoever I want, but I prefer to work on one thing and give my 100 per cent."
