Latto links up with Playboi Carti for the “Blick Sum” music video, adding a new verse from Carti to the track.
Shared on Monday (Jan. 27) the Hidji World and Gunner Stahl-directed clip, shot in Atlanta, features appearances from Latto’s sister Brooklyn Nikole, and 2 Chainz.
In the video, dancers flex their technical skills, performing stunts on a Merry-Go-Round flaunting their curves in bodysuits, tights, and ski masks. Latto herself raps, “That gangster sh*t, it turn me on,” in a bikini and lavish fur coat.
“Blick Sum” was originally featured on Latto’s third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, which was released in August 2024. The original version of the flirtatious song did not include Playboi Carti, marking the first official collaboration between the two Atlanta-bred rap stars.
“I feel like my whole career has been that – growing pains – and people telling me what I should and shouldn’t do,” detailed the 26-year-old to EBONY Magazine of her latest era.
“So many times, I would let them get in my head, like, ‘This not popping off fast enough’ or this person surpassed me. But you just really do have to trust God’s plan and God’s timing because, you know, I’m so grateful for my journey now. I feel like me having this slow and steady incline has been more beneficial to me than just blowing up super fast and then setting this high tone that I’m forever gonna be chasing in my career. You know what I’m saying? I’m grateful for the baby steps.”
Sugar Honey Iced Tea features Young Nudy, Hunxho, Coco Jones, Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, Mariah the Scientist, Teezo Touchdown, Cardi B, and Flo Milli across 21 tracks divided into two discs. She is currently nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards for “Big Mama,” the album’s third single.
“I think ‘Big Mama’ has just allowed me to just redeem myself, build up my confidence to an all-time high, and just have built this wall between me and outside commentary to where it’s nothing you can say that will make me feel less than myself,” explained Latto to EBONY.
