Lewis Capaldi admits voice is 'going' at Glastonbury 2023

Lewis Capaldi has made an ultra rare appearance at Kendall Jenner’s Halloween party in Los Angeles.

The Scottish singer, 28, rocked a Ghostbusters costume as he arrived at the star-studded bash at the infamous Chateau Marmont on Thursday, and had a huge smile on his face. He wore a green high neck jumper underneath his outfit, which was inspired by the 1984 cult classic starring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, and fans were delighted to see him looking well after a tumultuous year.

The Wish You The Best hitmaker took a self-enforced break from the spotlight in June last year after suffering with his mental health, and almost broke down during his Glastonbury set. He asked fans to help him sing along as he confessed his voice had “packed it in”, and the huge crowd was on hand to get Lewis through the emotional set. He told the audience at the sold-out festival that he had just had a three week break to “rest and recover”, but was struggling with his Tourette’s.

His set finished with an emotional performance of Someone You Love, as fans rallied around the stricken singer and belted out most of the lyrics while he paced up and down the Pyramid Stage. Shortly after his set at Glastonbury, he confirmed in a heartbreaking statement that he had been struggling with his mental health for months, and was taken an indefinite break.

“The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write. I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I’d hoped 3 weeks away would sort me out. But the truth is I’m still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s and on Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come,” Lewis wrote in a statement on social media.

He cancelled the rest of his sold-out tour dates, and put plans of new music on hold as he prioritised his mental wellbeing. Six months later, Lewis delighted fans when he announced an update, and thanked everyone for their support and kind messages as he revealed he had seen a “marked improvement” in his health. “For now I’m going to continue taking some time to carry on looking after myself, maybe writing some music and taking a moment to reflect on some of the most incredible years of my life,” Lewis continued.

“I want to make absolutely sure I’m 100% before getting back out there again properly for more shows and doing what I love more than anything!” he added. The singer has yet to comment on recent rumours that he’s planning to release new music next year, with a long-awaited third album in the works. According to The Sun, Lewis has been discussing the album with friends, and looked “excited” to be working on the secret project.
