Liam Payne death probe intensifies with new raids in Argentina

2 weeks ago 5

Argentinian police investigating the tragic death of Liam Payne have reportedly carried out a second round of raids on the homes of two hotel workers and a 'friend' of the singer. TMZ reports that law enforcement sources in Buenos Aires conducted the raids on Tuesday night, also searching the hotel lockers of the workers and reviewing security footage from the CasaSur Palermo hotel.

The outlet claims that police believe these unidentified workers had contact with the One Direction star before his fatal fall from his third-floor room balcony on October 16. It's suggested that one of Liam's 'friends' was identified through text messages and is being investigated for allegedly supplying the singer with drugs.

However, this 'friend' was not present during the raid. This follows an initial raid last month where electronic and paper records, as well as videos of the hotel's underground area, were seized.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Liam died from head injuries sustained during his fall, with Argentine outlets reporting traces of cocaine in his body at the time of his death.

The respected news outlet Infobae reported that substances found in the singer's body during the post-mortem had "determined the presence of the class-A drug.", reports the Mirror.

Shocking new developments have arisen as Liam's father stays on in Argentina. Earlier in the week, he visited a makeshift memorial to view the touching tributes laid by devastated fans after his son's passing.

Geoff mingled with supporters of the One Direction star outside the Buenos Aires hotel, holding a red rose before laying it at the tribute site. In poignant scenes, the dad-of-three was spotted embracing two admirers who presented him with a candle, which he carefully placed at the base of a tree encircled by flowers.

The return of Liam's body to British soil is expected shortly, as his kin brace themselves for the forthcoming funeral. Industry insiders hint at a grand memorial service slated for the near future, indicating the late musician will receive a grand adieu.

One insider speaking with the Daily Mail suggested: "Liam will have a very big send off, quite probably at a large cathedral somewhere close to his heart. Liam was so loved by so many people, there will obviously be enormous demand and so the service will necessarily be a huge affair. The details are still under wraps until they are definitively signed off but should be announced very soon."
