Liam Payne funeral preparation underway as A-listers set to pay respects today

The final preparation for Liam Payne's funeral is underway at a Home Counties church.

Fans and stars are preparing to bid farewell to One Direction star Liam today (November 20). The young talent, aged just 31, met a devastating end after a fall from a third-floor hotel balcony in Argentina last month.

Last week marked a significant moment when Argentine authorities finally authorised the repatriation of Liam's body, fulfilling a heartfelt wish of those he left behind. It's understood that Liam's father Geoff was by his son's side during the flight back to the UK, before heading to Liam's hometown of Wolverhampton.

The upcoming service is set to be a who's who of the music industry, with Liam's former bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik expected to join in mourning, according to The Sun. His girlfriend Kate Cassidy and music mogul Simon Cowell are also said to be among those paying tribute.

The final preparations for Liam's funeral began on Wednesday morning

This morning, people were seen laying flowers and decorating the church entrance with beautiful autumnal arrangements, ready for people to arrive to pay their respects.

Just before his untimely death, dad-of-one Liam was in Buenos Aires to see his pal Niall Horan perform at the Movistar Arena. He had been with girlfriend Kate Cassidy, however she had left after wanting to get back home.

News then broke of Liam falling from his balcony at the CasaSur hotel, with further reports emerging detailing some worrying behaviour and drug use.

Liam's heartbroken family said after the shock news: "We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul."
