Argentina's National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office (NCCPO)has ruled that Liam Payne's death was not a suicide but was caused by the influence of the drugs he took as he fell from the third balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel on October 16.

The world was stunned to learn of the death of the One Direction singer in Buenos Aires, with his former band members and the mother of his child offering emotional tributes whilst fans of the boyband became struck with grief around the globe.

People wondered how the fatal fall happened, and with bouts of depression and suicide ideation in the past, some wondered if he had taken his own life after he previously opened up on the dangers of feeling lonely.

But according to the NCCPO, his fall was a tragic accident that was caused by the impact of "alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant" in his system that caused the 31-year-old to be unable to react to his plunge.

"All the injuries that Payne presented were compatible with those caused by a fall from a height," the Coroner wrote, as per TMZ. "And that self-harm of any kind was ruled out. [As is] physical intervention of third parties.

"[Payne] did not adopt a reflex posture to protect himself during the fall, it can be inferred that he could have fallen into a state of semi or total unconsciousness.

"This situation would also rule out the possibility of a conscious or voluntary act on the part of the victim, since, in the state he was going through, he did not know what he was doing nor could he understand it."

Local law enforcement said there was no possibly of resuscitating the British singer when they arrived to the scene after his fall and this was backed up by the coroner, who wrote that he had multiple traumas and a hemorrhage, internal and external.

Witnesses had reported him acting erratic throughout the day whilst hotel staff reported him acting violently within his own room, however, some other people who saw him on his final day said that he seemed calm and happy.

Three charged with Payne's death

Prosecutors in Argentina have charged three people with playing a role in the death, including an alleged drug dealer as well as a hotel employee and one person close to the singer, with all their names remaining private.

The employee is accused of providing him with cocaine at least twice, whilst the dealer is said to have given him the Class A drug on two more occasions.

The person close to him has been charged with abandonment of a person followed by death. None are allowed to leave Argentina.
