Liam Payne’s family pay tribute after his death

The body of singer Liam Payne is expected to be flown back to the UK this week "back where he belongs" with his family, as his devoted father refuses to leave his side.

In Buenos Aires, where the beloved One Direction star met his untimely death after a fall from his hotel balcony, officials have not yet released his body pending the final pathology tests. However, authorities anticipate that the results will be ready this week and have not dismissed the immediate availability of the findings.

A source revealed: "Liam's loved ones just want him home, back where he belongs among his family. As they await the pathologist to finish their tests, behind the scenes, they have been tackling the logistics about how best to get his body back to the UK.

"There are no direct commercial flights between Buenos Aires and London, but naturally, they want the flight to have the least stops and interruptions possible. But Geoff is determined to accompany his son home."

While chartering a private jet is an option being considered, the challenge remains that few aircraft have the capability to cover the 6,915-mile distance without refueling. Meanwhile, thousands of fans across the globe have come together to mourn the loss of the star.

Liam tragically died after plummeting from the balcony of his third-floor suite at the CasaSur Hotel in Palmero, Buenos Aires. Prior to his fatal fall last Wednesday, he was observed behaving unusually in the lobby by other guests.

Following his fall, police discovered the prescription drug clonazepam, energy supplements and various over-the-counter medications strewn across the suite, along with "various items broken."

A whiskey bottle, lighter and mobile phone were subsequently retrieved from the hotel's internal courtyard, where Liam's body was found. Images from inside his room revealed what seems to be a significant amount of drug paraphernalia and a shattered television.

Liam, who had travelled to Argentina to watch his bandmate Niall Horan perform live, was reportedly compelled to prolong his stay after his US visa application was initially denied. A close friend revealed that this was due to Liam admitting on his 'extraordinary achievement' visa renewal application that he had previously used drugs and alcohol.

Embassy officials in the US commanded the singer to submit to a drug test to confirm his sobriety. According to a source speaking to the Mirror: "Knowing he needed to pass the test, Liam kept away from everything. He didn't touch a thing and was clean when he presented himself for testing."

While his visa had finally been approved, and he was set to have it stamped last Friday merely two days after his untimely death.
