Liam Payne: Guests arrive for funeral of One Direction singer

Liam Payne's father, Geoff, had expressed worries about his son being in “lonely hotel rooms,” as revealed by the late One Direction star.

Following his tragic death in October, when he fell from the third floor of his suite in Argentina, it has been reported that Liam had a fear of being confined in hotel rooms and was attempting to escape when the fatal incident occurred.

In a previously shared TikTok video, the beloved star discussed his father's concerns for him while he was touring with One Direction.

“My dad said it from day one - lonely hotel rooms. Getting locked in that room is not fun,” Liam stated.

The singer also hinted at his mental health struggles and reaching “hitting rock bottom” during the Diary of a CEO podcast.

The 34-year-old confessed: “Rock bottom? I was worried how far my rock bottom was going to be. Where's rock bottom for me? I'm very good at hiding it, you wouldn't even know. I don't even know if I've hit it yet.”

The news of the singer’s death last month left his multitude of devoted fans worldwide devastated.

Liam had been residing at CasaSur Palmero in Argentina and tragically died from multiple injuries as well as internal and external bleeding caused by the fall, according to a post-mortem examination.

His body was discovered in the hotel's inner courtyard, and following his death, police found substances in his hotel room, along with damaged items and furniture, as per the public prosecutor's office.

On November 8, it was disclosed that three individuals have been charged in relation to Liam's death, reports the Mirror.

Witnesses and a police report have alleged that the hotel was aware of Liam's threats to use the balcony as an escape route, yet left him unattended.

TMZ sources suggest that the singer had a phobia of being trapped in hotel rooms, a response originating from his One Direction days.

On the day he died, hotel CCTV footage showed Liam causing a commotion in the lobby before hotel staff stepped in.

Witnesses stated that the father-of-one resisted, informing staff he didn't want to stay in the room and even threatened to use the balcony to escape if confined.

Hotel staff reportedly used a master key to confine Liam in his room. However, mere minutes later, a hotel employee dialled 911, noting the singer was in a room with a balcony and expressing concern that he might try to escape.

“I don't know whether his life may be in danger. He is in a room with a balcony, and, well, we're a little afraid,” revealed the hotel worker during the call, as per the transcript.

Subsequently, when Liam was left unsupervised in the room by the hotel personnel, he seemingly attempted an escape using the balcony, which resulted in the heartbreaking accident.
