The late Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy has paid tribute to him with a special tattoo.
Kate has unveiled the tribute two months on from his death. Liam died, aged 31, after falling from the balcony of a hotel in Argentina in October, with him said to have died from "polytrauma and internal and external bleeding." A toxicology report found traces of alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants in Liam's system and officials ruled out that he took his own life, explaining that "in the state he was in, he did not know what he was doing and could not understand it". Last month, Liam's close friends, family and former One Direction bandmates gathered for his funeral.
Liam's girlfriend Kate, who he had been dating since 2022, has made several references to angels since his death. This has included mention of the number 444, which is described as the "angel number". She also suggested in a tribute post to him that she had "gained a guardian angel".
She has now given a glimpse of a tattoo in the shape of angel wings. The ink was visible in a photo that Kate shared of herself through her Instagram Story on Sunday. It showed her cuddled up with the couple's dog Nala, who they are said to have adopted a month before Liam's death.
One of Kate's hand was visible as she cuddled her canine companion whilst lying on a bed in the photo. She had two tattoos, one her index and another on her middle finger, which are thought to represent a pair of angel wings. As the caption of the post, Kate simply put a red heart emoji.

I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you'll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private. Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam."
She later told fans that Liam had planned to propose to her within the next year. As previously reported, she wrote in a subsequent post on social media: "Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into. [...] You had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I've lost the best part of myself. I can't imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life."
Kate added: "A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said 'Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.' Liam, I know we'll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You'll always be with me. I've gained a guardian angel."
