Liam Payne had a heartbreaking dream for his latest single, which will be released this week following his tragic death.

The One Direction star left his legion of loyal fans bereft two weeks ago when he tragically fell from the third floor story of his hotel suite, aged 31, in Argentina.

Since the tragedy, a posthumous song recorded by Liam, his sister Ruth Gibbins, and songwriter, Sam Pounds, called Do No Wrong has been circulating on social media and now Sam has spoken about the singer's wish for the track.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, sharing the song's cover art, which features a man with angel wings, the Grammy winner wrote: "I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed. I pray angels will comfort you all everyday while listening. I pray that this song will be a blessing to Ruth, Bear, and the entire family.

"I pray that this song eclipses the negative echoes. I pray supernatural positive healing power will embrace each and every one of you. Presave links here. With love." Ending with an impassioned plea to fans as well as the song's release date, November 1, Sam wrote: "Let’s all BE the blessing."

Responding to the poignant post, many fans spoke of their heartbreak, as one said: "I'm genuinely crying just thinking about hearing new music from him. Liam deserved more than he received in the end and we're so honoured you're sharing this with us."

Another said: "Thank you so much Sam. Really appreciate this. We love and miss him so much but having at least a song out that Liam was excited to release gives a little comfort."

One Direction's five studio albums surged back into the UK top 40 last week following Liam's devastating death. The band's 2013 album, Midnight Memories, featuring hits like Best Song Ever and Story Of My Life, has re-entered the UK albums chart on Friday at number 13, while Made In The AM (2015) is back at 21, according to the Official Charts Company.

Fans are still reeling from the tragedy, with many around the world holding candlelit vigils for the Wolverhampton-born star. 'Directioners' in Liam's hometown have also petitioned the city's council in West Midlands to erect a statue in his honour.

More than 2,500 people have signed a petition calling on the council to consider building a permanent monument in Wolverhampton. Their appeal page reads: "The recent passing of Liam Payne has touched the hearts of many, not just the unbreakable community of One Direction fans, but people worldwide. As individuals who have been profoundly impacted by the loss of this amazing talent, we ask for a permanent structure or mural to be erected in Wolverhampton in his honour."
