Police have reportedly swooped on the hotel where singer Liam Payne tragically plunged to his death.

The Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has become the focus of an intensified investigation as officers are said to be hunting for more clues from the staff at the site of the tragedy.

The former One Direction star was just 31 when he fatally fell from a third-floor balcony at Casa Sur on October 16, his sudden death sending shockwaves worldwide. Sources now report authorities are demanding the hotel "must provide" additional security footage and detailed info about its employees.

Reports from US Weekly suggest a police raid targeted the hotel for paperwork within guest logs and extracted data from the hotel's computer systems. Liam's own bodyguard, Paul Higgins, has been actively cooperating with the law enforcement at the locale, reviewing CCTV feeds.

Higgins has reportedly been grilling multiple hotel staffers in an effort to discover who might have supplied the late pop icon with alleged illegal substances, as mainstream media outlets reported, reports the Mirror.

Following the distressing event, forensic experts detected cocaine traces in the singer's system, and an autopsy reinforced this finding with evidence of the class A substance, as per renowned news provider Infobae. Furthermore, ABC News reported that among the drugs allegedly found was a variant known as "pink cocaine".

The lethal cocktail of drugs included MDMA, ketamine, methamphetamine, cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack. Former basketball star and recovering addict Lamar Odom suggested that Liam might have been hearing voices due to the drugs he had consumed.

Speaking to TMZ, Lamar, who now owns Odom Recovery Group, said: "Drugs can cause you to hallucinate and if he was in a hallucination state then who knows what happened."

Following the tragic death of Liam, fans have launched a petition for "Liam's Law", which has already garnered over 75,000 signatures. The campaign aims to implement a proposal made by Liam to provide more support for young musicians.

Liam had previously opened up about his battle with sobriety and his fragile mental health. His girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, revealed their plans to marry next year.

She shared a note on social media where Liam wrote: "Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444."

The number 444 is often seen as an angel number, carrying special significance.
