Lil Durk‘s music streams have seen an increase since the artist was arrested for alleged murder-for-hire. On Monday (Oct. 28), DJ Akademiks took to X/Twitter where he reported on the latest in Durk news. The Hip-Hop pundit reported that Durkio’s catalog saw a 28% increase since he was detained by law enforcement in Florida in mid-October.

Fans reacted to the news with glee, declaring that Durk is one of the realest rappers out right now. “Durk music hit a lil different when you know it ain’t no cap in his raps,” one account said. “Us true fans that been around since lil jojo knew these ni**as was not cap lol but he really talkin to the streets wit his pain music to so it hit different different,” another person chimed in.

But, back to reality. CBS News Chicago reported that the rapper was previously arrested at a Miami airport as he allegedly attempted to flee the country to Italy. Durkio was arrested for his alleged role in a murder-for-hire plot dating back to 2022. New court documents speculate that the rapper Quando Rondo was the supposed target in the hit. However, after gunfire opened up on Rondo’s vehicle, it missed him and instead claimed the life of his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.

Investigators close to Durk’s case are stating that his murder-for-hire connection is retaliation for the death of King Von, a close friend to Lil Durk.

Sarah Corcoran, an FBI Agent on the case, described the rapper, né Durk Devontay Banks, as the ringleader of the plot. In the court-filed affidavit, she stated that OTF members “engage in violence, including murder and assault, at the direction of Banks and to maintain their status in OTF.”

The outlet also states that Durk has now been officially charged with conspiracy to use interstate facilities to commit murder for hire, resulting in death.

Banks’ pre-detention hearing is set to be held in California and he is currently being held in Miami pending a transfer to Los Angeles.

A date for the hearing has yet to be set.
