The housing market really is that scary. Netflix‘s first full-length trailer for No Good Deed features Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano as a Los Angeles couple struggling to hide a potentially deadly secret beneath a plot of prime real estate.
The dark comedy, set for release next month, follows a hodgepodge of families interested in buying Kudrow and Romano’s house, a “1920s Spanish-style villa located in one the most desirable neighborhoods in Los Angeles,” per the press release.
Though the various groups “believe [the house] to be their dream house” and are “convinced it will fix all of their very different problems… Lydia and Paul know all too well [that] sometimes the home of your dreams can be a true nightmare.”
The logline adds, “As they struggle to hide the dark and dangerous secrets that linger inside their longtime home, Paul and Lydia begin to realize that the only way they’ll escape the past is to finally face it.”
In the trailer, the main couple watches prospective buyers from a hidden camera. “We have to get out of here before we both lose our minds,” Romano says.
The show also stars Linda Cardellini, O-T Fagbenle, Abbi Jacobson, Denis Leary, Poppy Liu, Teyonah Parris, and Luke Wilson, with guest stars Matt Rogers, Kate Moennig, Chloe East, Rory Scovel, Wyatt Aubrey, Kevin Alves and Linda Lavin and Anna Maria Horsford.
Netflix gave the new show a straight-to-series order in 2022. Showrunner Liz Feldman said at the time that No Good Deed was inspired by her “maniacally searching Zillow” during the early days of the pandemic: “I’m endlessly grateful to Netflix for being such a supportive creative home and for continuing to allow me to turn my crippling anxiety into entertainment.”
No Good Dead releases on Netflix on Dec. 12.
