Martha Stewart almost had a shot at hosting “Saturday Night Live,” but alas, her plans were thwarted by her parole officer.
On Monday, during an appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” Stewart shed light on the reason she wasn’t able to host the iconic comedy sketch show.
During the interview, Fallon asked, “Would you ever want to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ one day?”
“I wanted to,” Stewart responded. “They asked me as I was coming out of Alderson, that camp that I was in for a while. My parole officer wouldn’t give me the time to do it.”

The “camp” Stewart referred was the federal prison where she served out a five-month sentence from October 2004 to March 2005.
Stewart then explained that, after her release, she was only allowed “eight hours a day” outside of her home — a schedule that proved incompatible with the demands of the late-night sketch comedy.
Still reeling from the missed opportunity, the business mogul referred to the parole officer who wouldn’t let her do it as a “bastard” and hinted that she still had his “name and number” on speed dial.

Fallon then stated that she would be a “fantastic host,” to which Stewart responded: “I would, I would be amazing. Start a campaign.”
