Congratulations are in order for two famous families. Eric Murphy, the son of comedian Eddie Murphy, and Jasmine Lawrence, the daughter of actor Martin Lawrence are officially engaged. The couple revealed the news in a social media post on Saturday (Nov. 30).
“11.27.2024. We’re engaged!!,” clarified the caption of the joint Instagram upload. “God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter”
In the clip, the couple enters a candlelit venue covered in flower petals. The song “Spend My Life With You” by Eric Benét and Tamia serves as the background music for the romantic moment.
The couple has been dating since 2021 and since their relationship became public. During a 2022 interview with InTouch Weekly, the bride-to-be detailed, “It wasn’t even our dads, and they’ve done two movies together, they’re friends,” sharing that her uncle introduced them to one another.
“We became really good friends because we bonded on a lot of things.”
Both fathers have suggested the other foot the bill for any pending wedding ceremony.
In 2021, Lawrence suggested Murphy would pay for the affair however the Candy Cane Lane star has other ideas.
“That’s not how it goes,” detailed the 63-year-old last year. “My daughter just got married, and I had to pay — really had to pay. You have to do the same, Martin. Don’t try to switch it up — try to change no sh*t, do no Hollywood switch. You’re paying for the wedding. If it goes down, Martin is paying, and the wedding better be wonderful.”
