Marvel Rivals Duelist is so broken players are urging teams to ban him

This OP Duelist is causing Marvel Rivals players serious problems in matches, to the point that they’re actually banding together to try and get more teams to ban him.

Marvel Rivals already has a huge roster of characters, with more arriving in each major update. But they’re not all created equally, so while the likes of Mister Fantastic and Adam Warlock are struggling to find a place, others are dominating the meta.

Duelists have been the go-to for many players since the hero shooter launched, thanks to their powerful kits that make dealing damage a breeze. But while there are plenty of strong characters to choose from in this role, Winter Soldier is proving too hot to handle.

Ever since Season 1.5 went live, posts have begun popping up on social media pointing out how powerful the character is. Reddit user ‘ilya202020‘ asked how to deal with Winter Soldier, and the replies were full of comments simply suggesting they ban him in Competitive.

“Ban him. If no ban you better go double shield tank. It will slow him but not make him switch since yoink is powerful against dives and flanks,” said one reply, while another added: “Ban him in comp and anywhere else pray that your team has an equally competent Bucky.”

This sentiment was echoed in other posts, with ‘AudacityIncarnate‘ also urging teams to ban Bucky before a match.

“I genuinely don’t understand how some people are just not noticing he is so incredibly over-tuned right now,” said the OP. “If there’s a good Bucky on your team you steamroll and vice versa.”

The main reason that many players called Winter Soldier “broken” was just how well-balanced his kit is. His primary pistol attack deals huge damage and can kill an enemy with a couple of well-placed headshots, while his projectiles are large and can help tackle flying characters like Human Torch.

Then there’s his Ultimate, which not only dishes out plenty of damage, but can be re-used multiple times after a successful elimination. All of this adds up to a character with very few flaws, and players are clearly sick of facing him.

“I don’t want Netease to go down the Blizzard route and destroy a character, but f**k Bucky,” added another.

Bucky was one of the characters who managed to escape a nerf in the Season 1.5 update, but if this trend continues, don’t be surprised to see him tweaked when Season 2 arrives in April.
