Just weeks after NBCUniversal announced that Season 2 of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys would be moving from Peacock to Bravo, the family patriarch pled guilty to participating in a massive insurance fraud scheme. Steven McBee is facing 30 years in prison, so it’s safe to say we probably won’t be seeing him in Season 2.
The McBee Family fraud, involving patriarch Steve
Ironically, Season 1 of McBee Dynasty followed Steve and his sons as they attempted to usher in a new chapter for their Missouri ranch. According to the show’s official synopsis, the ranch was “at a crossroads, poised to either soar to billion-dollar success or plunge into financial ruin pending a pivotal decision from a Venture Capital investment firm.” Now, they’re at a new crossroads; and not just because of their network move.
Although the cameras showed the McBee family passionately working to move McBee Farm and Cattle forward, Steven just confessed to receiving over $3 million in fraudulent insurance funds. People reported all of the details after dissecting a press release from the Department of Justice.
According to their report, Steven pled guilty to one count of federal insurance fraud. The crimes took place between 2018 and 2020. The DOJ claimed that his fraudulent actions caused an “economic loss” to the United States Department of Agriculture of over $4 million.
The DOJ’s investigation uncovered Steven lying about his crop yields. That resulted in him getting federal benefits he wasn’t entitled to receive. For example, the report said that in one year alone, he made a false insurance claim where his corn was underreported by 674,812 bushels and approximately 155,833 bushels for his soybean crops.
The future of the McBee Dynasty; will Steve end up in prison?
Since Steven has already pled guilty to the fraud scheme, he waived his right to a jury trial. The DOJ wants him to pay back the millions of dollars of federal money he received. Plus, he’s facing a 30-year prison sentence.
Meanwhile, the rest of the “dynasty” is gearing up for Season 2 of their reality show. Bravo hasn’t shared any plans to put the show on pause amid the legal drama. The show was added to the Bravo 2025 slate among a flurry of other new shows.
In an announcement for Season 2, it was confirmed that Steven McBee Jr. would be taking over the family business. Let’s just hope he doesn’t follow in his father’s footsteps. We don’t to see another Bravolebrity sent away for fraud.
Season 1 of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys is streaming on Peacock. Season 2 premieres on Bravo sometime in 2025.
