The reunion of Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland on stage in Houston to support Vice President Kamala Harris was missing only one thing: Michelle Williams.

After the political rally, hosted to boost Harris’ votes, the 45-year-old explained why she did not join her Destiny’s Child sisters at the campaign event, despite her desire to support.

“I was so happy [for Beyonce and Kelly],” Williams explained on the Sherri show Tuesday (Oct 29) per Billboard. “It was the first time that I have not been able to be in person for something that I wanted to be at.

“It’s a sacrifice that we make [being] on Broadway,” she confirmed, as she stars in Death Becomes Her which is currently in previews, with Williams’ run officially opening on Nov. 21.

The “Hello Heartbreak” performer added that her takeaway from watching the rally is that her group members “represented and held me down in their own way.”

During the Democratic campaign event, Kelly Rowland, Beyoncé, Tina Knowles, and Willie Nelson added their star power to the energetic event.

“We are at the precipice of an incredible shift—the brink of history,” proclaimed Queen Bey, per Vogue. “I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother—a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in. A world where we have the power to control our bodies. A world where we’re not divided…It’s time for America to sing a new song.”
