A family who forgot to upgrade their cabin before they went on their cruise ended up living in rather close quarters, leaving internet users in stitches.
North Carolina native Ashley Wanichko was on Carnival's new Mardi Gras ship for a seven-day cruise to Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico and Isla Roatan in Honduras with her husband and their two sons when she took a video that quickly went viral.
In a clip posted to TikTok, which has received over 4 million views since it was first shared on November 20, Wanichko shows the tiny cabin that her family of four would be sleeping in together.
The mom and her family were meant to upgrade their room to have more space, but it slipped their minds before leaving for the cruise, so they were left with a room that had bunk beds above the adults' bed.
"While the room was very small, we spent little time in there," Wanichko told Newsweek. "We got ready in shifts and stayed out of the room during the days.
"The kids stayed on their bunk beds while the adults were getting ready. They had some free movies on TV which was nice."
The video shows Wanichko's husband sitting on the double bed while their two sons sit on the bunk beds above. "POV [point of view]: you forgot to upgrade your room and you're about to be real close for the next week," Wanichko wrote in the text overlay of the video.
While Wanichko didn't seem too bothered by the small room, which she got a "heck of a deal" on, she said that the room got quite hot at night. However, friendly and helpful staff gave them a fan.
TikTok users left thousands of comments under the video, sharing their thoughts and reactions.
"Thank the lord Jesus Christ that you remembered the Nintendo switch," said Charlie.
"Someone once told me, 'When there's kids with, it's a trip. When it's adults only, it's vacation' and that lives rent free in my mind lol enjoy your trip!" @katiepreston6 shared.
Chelsea Berardinelli commented: "Still better than the best day at work but I feel the stress."
@ReillySD wrote: "My kids would love that!" to which Wanichk0 admitted that the family "did end up liking it."
"He's just chilling and ignoring the chaos of what is going on with all the questions above him," Karina joked.
