Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently shared one of her biggest regrets — and it has nothing to do with politics.
On Wednesday’s episode of Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ podcast “Wiser Than Me,” the politician casually admitted that she’s upset that she never got to fully flex her comedic chops.
“One of my regrets is that I never hosted ’Saturday Night Live,’” Pelosi told the “SNL” alum a little over 43 minutes into the episode. “I’m really funny.”
Instead of being shocked by the confession, the “Veep” alum was incredibly supportive.
“Well Nancy, let’s go! If Lorne [Michaels] is listening,” Louis-Dreyfus said, referring to the variety show’s creator. “It’s not too late!”
But Pelosi was resolved and insisted that she missed her chance.
“It’s over,” Pelosi said. “It’s too late. I wouldn’t think of it. I’ve crossed the bridge.”
Louis-Dreyfus tried to coerce her by saying that she’d “work on your audition with you,” but the 84-year-old democrat laughed it off.
Although Pelosi has never appeared on the iconic sketch show, she’s been a presence on “SNL” since 2005. Former cast members like Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon have all done Pelosi impressions on the show. Cameron Diaz was actually the first person to do a Pelosi imitation on “SNL” in 2005.

And we’d just like to add that if Pelosi truly wanted to cross this ambition off her bucket list — it’s definitely not too late. In 2010, Betty White made history by being the oldest person to host “SNL” at the age of 88.
