"There would be no 'Power' without Ghost, right?"
Naturi Naughton is praising her Power co-star, Omari Hardwick, after show producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson shared his belief that the actor “overvalues himself.”
Following Jackson’s assertion made on The Breakfast Club this week, Naughton spoke to TMZ at the I Will Graduate Awards in Brooklyn, where she called 50’s assessment “insane.”
“That’s insane to me,” the actress said of Jackson’s claim that Hardwick overvalues himself. “Omari is, literally, the epitome of Power. Omari Hardwick started this amazing journey, and I don’t know all of what happened with 50 and O, but I’ll say this; I love Omari Hardwick, he’s an amazingly talented human, and he’s also a good person, but there would be no Power without Ghost, right? So, I hope that they can find love and peace between each other, because much love to 50 and to O.”
Naughton was then asked if she feels the cast of Power was fairly compensated, as Hardwick’s complaint of being lowballed prompted the initial response from 50.
“I definitely do,” Naughton responded when asked if she thinks the cast “made a pretty decent penny.” She also recognizes that her situation is different than Hardwick’s, but confirms that she had no complaints when it came to her own compensation.
Finally, she shared her belief that the two men can eventually work out their differences. Check out the clip below.
50’s comments followed Hardwick’s assertion that STARZ underpaid him as the “face of the network,” saying that 50 and co-producer Courtney Kemp were aware because they were “higher-up in the company.”
Jackson didn’t take kindly to being name-dropped in this context, because “you leave it like it’s me not giving you the money,” he argued.
“I think he overvalues himself,” 50 told the morning show hosts. “Because…it’s been a long time since he’s been in Power, why are we not excited about the new projects?”
Charlamagne Tha God then asked, “What new projects? I didn’t know…”
“See, that’s what I’m talking about,” 50 asserted. “If there was noise going on, if he was that big of a draw, then we would see noise, we would see new things happening, we’d see you out where you’re actively in a place where they’re looking for you.”
