A person living in an apartment complex decided to take action when their neighbor's lack of parking manners caused them some annoyance.
One Reddit user explained in a viral post how they managed to get back at the neighbor by getting her car towed after she allegedly "stole" the parking spot they had been waiting for.
According to the post, the apartment complex's parking places are a "hot commodity". They wrote: "We all kind of follow an unspoken rule: if someone's waiting for a spot, you let them have it."
As this person was waiting for someone to pull out of a parking spot to claim it, a neighbor "zooms in out of nowhere, grabs the spot, and strolls off without a care".
"I honk, thinking maybe she didn't see me, but nope—she just gives me that classic 'Karen' wave and disappears into the building like she did nothing wrong."
The Reddit user then told a friend who happens to work for a towing company used by the apartment complex. That friend informed them that the woman's car was technically over the parking spot line and partially in a fire lane.
"So, the next day, he swings by, slaps a warning on her car," they said. The warning was ignored and the car was towed the next day.
"A week later, she's back, and this time she's taking up two spaces like she's trying to stake her claim. I couldn't believe the nerve."
The ticked off neighbor then decided to make another call, and the woman was eventually "banished" to parking on the street after a second towing. To add insult to injury, the Redditer left a sticky note on the woman's windshield reading, "Parking is a privilege, not a right."
Etiquette expert Diane Gottsman addressed the incident and told Newsweek: "It's a parking lot courtesy to allow the person who's waiting for the open space to pull in, and occasionally someone may pull in front of them without knowing there is another person waiting for the same parking spot.
"As far as one occupant getting another occupant's car towed, there had to be a violation in order for the car to be removed and it seems like in this case there was."
She added: "This situation seems to have consumed both parties and it would have been most beneficial for the person parking over the line to be more cognizant of her parking skills. And the guy who is taking credit for getting her towed would probably have a better day if he would handle his own frustrations about this situation and move on."
Other Reddit users shared their thoughts. Lost_Coyote5018 commented: "You are my hero."
"How would someone become friends with someone who works at a towing company? I've had multiple instances where I'll almost hit someone's car when coming around a corner because they're parked literally right in front if fire lane signs," said Hooligan_Sixx.
"You besTOWed her with the ancient rules of parking etiquette," joked LynxAdonis.
ViridianCthulhu said: "As someone who still understands the pain of aprt parking hassles for two decades, and as someone who believes in the consequences of one's actions, this post is pure joy."
