Feeling a little cheeky! Fans got a glimpse at legendary boxer Mike Tyson’s butt cheeks during Netflix’s live broadcast of his fight against Jake Paul.
Before Tyson, 58, stepped into the ring to take on the former YouTube personality on Friday, November 15, his son Amir Tyson stopped him for an interview while he was getting ready for the match.
“Dad, you ready for tonight?” Amir, 27, asked in the locker room.
After Tyson confirmed he was ready for the match, Amir continued.
“How do you feel about the disrespect [Jake’s] been constantly throwing your way?”
The dad of seven said he didn’t “pay any attention to it” and told Amir he loved him, but fans weren’t prepared for the view as Tyson walked away. He was clad in only a jockstrap and viewers got a clear shot of Tyson’s butt before the cameraman quickly panned up to his midsection.
The internet exploded with memes and jokes about the unexpected moment, and Netflix subscribers were able to laugh about the full moon amid the chaos caused by the buffering issues the streaming service had throughout the event.
“Seeing Mike Tyson’s big bare butt was not on my bingo card for today,” wrote one user via X.
Another joked, “When Netflix has shown you a clearer image of Mike Tyson’s ass, than of any boxing.”
“Let’s face it, no one expected to see Mike Tyson’s butt at that hour,” a third person added.
Netflix even got in on the fun and posted the clip and wrote, “Mike Tyson’s pre-fight interview got real cheeky.”
Tyson’s bare butt managed to take viewers’ minds off the problems Netflix was having during the live event, but not for long. Thousands of people reported via Down Detector that their broadcast was freezing and buffering throughout the night which caused frustration among almost everyone.
“I’ve been having streaming issues during live action on Netflix — and I’m dreading freezing and buffering during Paul-Tyson. I guess servers just don’t have the bandwidth for the worldwide magnitude of this,” sports commentator Skip Bayless wrote via X.
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy also had problems watching the fight.
“So the reports are in. #netflix wasnt ready for this. This is unwatchable,” Dave, 47, wrote in one post.
“I’m in the classic torture chamber where I cant tell if my internet keeps going out or whether #netflix is just constantly buffering and unwatchable for everybody,” he added in a separate post.
This wasn’t the first time the streamer has had issues with broadcasting live events. In April 2023, Netflix touted the first-ever live Love Is Blind reunion, but it quickly ran into problems. Fans were supposed to log in at 8 p.m. ET, but the event didn’t start until over an hour later. Those that were able to start watching the reunion were repeatedly kicked out.
The subscribers who weren’t able to access the show at all were met with a message that read, “We’re having trouble playing this title right now.”
However, that message eventually changed to tell folks that they were “having an issue” with the live stream and they were working to fix it. Ultimately, nothing worked and Netflix issued an apology.
“To everyone who stayed up late, woke up early, gave up their Sunday afternoon… we are incredibly sorry that the Love is Blind Live Reunion did not turn out as we had planned,” Netflix shared via X on April 23, 2023, shortly before 9 p.m. “We’re filming it now and we’ll have it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible. Again, thank you and sorry.”
