Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek have once again shown their strong bond after months of rumors surrounding their relationship.
The two stars were seen happily interacting on the red carpet at the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, dismissing previous gossip that suggested there was tension between them.
The 57-year-old Kidman and 58-year-old Hayek, who have both enjoyed long and illustrious careers in Hollywood, shared a warm moment as they greeted each other before the ceremony.
The duo was all smiles as they spoke to reporters and posed for photos, even holding hands and affectionately linking arms during their interaction.
This public display of camaraderie stood in stark contrast to the months of rumors that had surrounded them after an awkward encounter in Paris.
The Paris Fashion Week incident
The speculation about a rift between Kidman and Hayek began after an incident at the Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week in September.
A video that went viral seemed to capture a tense exchange between the two actresses. In the footage, Hayek appeared to try to turn Kidman around for a group photo with pop star Katy Perry, but Kidman seemed to push Hayek's arm away before walking off briefly.
Some onlookers immediately speculated that the brief exchange meant something more, and social media exploded with rumors of a fallout between the two women.
The situation was exacerbated by the fact that Kidman had been seated between Hayek and her husband, Balenciaga owner Francois-Henri Pinault, during the show.
However, forensic lip-reader Jeremy Freeman analyzed the video and suggested a more innocent explanation. Freeman's interpretation suggested that Hayek was simply directing Kidman to turn for the photo, to which Kidman responded: "Hey, I'm fine, I'm good. There, it's enough, it's OK."
Freeman also noted that Hayek requested advice from Kidman, but Kidman replied: "You don't need it." To which Hayek humorously responded: "I do."
Despite the awkward moment, Hayek took to Instagram the following day, posting a picture of herself with Kidman from the event, signaling that there were no hard feelings between them.
Hollywood insiders also played down the incident, explaining that the two were likely overwhelmed by the barrage of cameras and simply had a brief misunderstanding.
