No, Blue Ivy’s Grammys Dress Isn’t ‘Too Mature’ For Her Age – Why Do Her Looks Cause So Much Controversy?

3 hours ago 4

She looked like a princess, as she should at her age.

Blue Ivy Carter isn’t here to please the internet. Just two months after her Mufasa: The Lion King premiere look sparked debates over whether her gold Christian Siriano ball gown was too mature, the 13-year-old has made it clear - she’s sticking to what she loves. At the 2025 Grammys, she arrived in a blue satin corset gown adorned with silver diamonds, proving once again that she’s unbothered by the conversation surrounding her fashion choices.

The backlash from December didn’t go unnoticed. At the time, Siriano himself praised Blue, shutting down critics with a simple message:  ‘Blue, you look like a goddess, and we loved making this for you,’ he wrote on Instagram. And now, her latest look suggests she feels the same way. Rather than shying away from the structured, corset that sparked controversy, she’s doubled down, choosing a gown that echoes the same princess-like silhouette.

Of course, the internet has plenty to say once again. Some argue that the corseted style is too mature for a 13-year-old, while others see nothing more than a young girl dressing up for a glamorous night out. But Blue didn’t seem to care. She stood tall next to her mother, Beyoncé, as she accepted Cowboy Carter’s Best Country Album award, then spent part of the night in deep conversation with Taylor Swift.

If Blue’s grace throughout the night is any indication, she isn’t dressing for the discourse. Love it or not, Blue Ivy Carter is wearing what she wants.
