Oprah, Lady Gaga, and More Celebs to Join Kamala Harris As She Makes Her Final Push In Philadelphia

Kamala Harris is hoping to paint the City of Brotherly Love blue on Election Eve, with a Philadelphia rally planned for Monday night featuring the likes of Oprah, Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, The Roots, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jazmine Sullivan, Fat Joe, and more. With just hours to go before Election Day, the Harris campaign is making a last grab for voters’ allegiance, with a little help from some very famous friends.

The event, which both Harris and her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, are slated to attend, will also have an iconic backdrop: The stairs in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, perhaps better known as “the Rocky Steps.” In a lightning-speed presidential campaign in which Harris has characterized herself as an underdog and a “joyful warrior,” it’s not hard to imagine why her campaign would choose to drop her straight into a frame from one of the most enduring cinematic underdog movies of all time, Rocky.

Lady Gaga announced her participation via a video shared to her Instagram account on Sunday. “It’s time to get ready to vote, I’ll see you guys in Pennsylvania,” she said in the video, with “HARRIS WALZ 2024” emblazoned below her.

She also shared the video to her Instagram Story.

Some streets in the city are already closed to traffic in anticipation of the massive rally.

The campaign is pulling out all the stops with the rally, resurfacing a few speakers who have previously supported the veep since Harris took the spot at the top of the party’s ticket when President Joe Biden stepped aside this summer. A purple-clad Oprah made a surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention in August, and Ricky Martin was among Latinx A-listers who voiced their outrage last week after a comedian at Republican Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally in New York City last week referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”

Amidst a packed weekend that included a surprise Saturday stop in New York to appear on Saturday Night Live, Harris spent Sunday in Michigan. She’ll spend all day Monday in Pennsylvania. She begins the day in Scranton, Biden’s hometown, then heads to Allentown, and then another campaign event in Pittsburgh, where Emhoff will join her. Then, the two are off to the Philadelphia rally, where they’re expected to speak late in the evening. They’ll go from there to Washington, D.C., where Harris will spend Election Day.

Katy Perry, another Harris supporter, is set to headline the Pittsburgh rally, which will take place earlier in the day at the Heinz History Center.

Both rallies will be livestreamed on Harris’s official YouTube channel.
