Roger Pratt has died at the age of 77.
The Oscar-nominated British cinematographer was best known for his work on two Harry Potter films and for his collaborations with directors Tim Burton, Terry Gilliam, Kenneth Branagh, Neil Jordan, Lasse Hallström, Mike Leigh, Wolfgang Petersen, and Richard Attenborough.
The British Society of Cinematographers lists his death as late 2024, though it does not provide a cause of death or an exact date of passing.

Born on February 27, 1947, Pratt enrolled at the London Film School in the late 1960s and decided that he no longer wanted to be a director.
Instead, he began working in production, starting as a camera assistant in 1971's Bleak Moments.

The 1975 British comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail made Pratt a clapper loader (second assistant camera on a film set).
Pratt later earned an Academy Award nom for 1999's Jordan's The End of the Affair and worked on Mona Lisa in the late '80s.
Included in the star's countless credits are Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005); 2004's Petersen's Troy, Hallström's Chocolat (2000); Branagh's Frankenstein (1994); 12 Monkeys (1995); The Fisher King (1991) Batman (1989); High Hopes (1988) and Brazil (1985)
During a 2003 interview with The New Yorker, Pratt said: "Because my job is concerned with big lumps of lights, metal cameras and laboratories, it makes me very pragmatic – it's the opposite of artistic. I look at myself as a technician.
He added: "Photography relies on science. Photographs are just chemicals in labs – light on paper – images in silver halide – but they turn into live things."
Pratt also received BAFTA nominations in 1999 and 2000 for The End of the Affair and Chocolat, which starred Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp.
The cinematographer was honoured with the British Society of Cinematographers' Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023, a decade after he retired due to Alzheimer's.
