Outlander prequel Blood of My Blood first look shows much younger Dougal and Colum

It's almost as if fans have travelled through the stones in time themselves, looking at the first sneak preview from Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Devoted followers of Outlander will recall Dougal and Colum MacKenzie, Jamie's uncles, as formidable figures at Castle Leoch in the early seasons.

Fans of the hit Starz show, based on Diana Gabaldon's best-selling book series, have now been given an exciting sneak peek at the MacKenzie brothers in their youth in the forthcoming prequel, Blood of My Blood.

The new series will focus on Jamie's parents, Ellen MacKenzie (portrayed by Pennyworth's Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Condor's Nest's Jamie Roy), as well as Claire's parents, Julia Moriston (We Hunt Together's Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Treadstone's Jeremy Irvine).

"The series will centre on these two parallel love stories set in two different eras, with Jamie's parents in the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands and Claire's parents in WWI England," according to the official synopsis.

In the Blood of My Blood image above, Seamus McLean Ross (Rebus) and Sam Retford (Coronation Street) portray Colum and Dougal. In Outlander, Colum was played by Gary Lewis, while Dougal was portrayed by Graham McTavish.

Matthew B. Roberts, the showrunner of Outlander, will also serve as the showrunner and executive producer on the spin-off series.

The first season will compose of 10 episodes. Maril Davis and Ronald D. Moore will also join as executive producers, with Outlander author Diana Gabaldon acting as a consulting producer.

The premiere of Outlander: Blood of My Blood is scheduled for some time in 2025.
