Outlander fans have been discussing series favourite Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, and his biggest blunders over the years.

Jamie, who is husband to Starz series protagonist Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe), has subsequently been called out for his “awful” and “mortifying” behaviour in certain scenes.

Viewers have been arguing over Jamie’s worst moments ahead of Outlander’s return next month, with season 7, part 2 set to drop in just a few weeks’ time.

The historical romance show, based on author Diana Gabaldon’s popular book series of the same name, recently wrapped filming on its eighth and final season, leaving fans emotional.

Taking to Reddit, one fan with the username @pufferfish_hoop criticised Jamie’s behaviour in a post entitled ‘What’s the worst thing Jamie does?’

Claire and Jamie in Outlander

Outlander fans have slammed Jamie over his behaviour towards certain characters - including Claire

They wrote: “I am currently reading Drums, and I feel like Jamie is making his biggest mistakes so far.

“I adore Jamie and I haven’t liked Roger (Richard Rankin) very much but I am really starting to come around to his side now that Jamie is treating him so awfully.

“Can’t Jamie just stop hitting Roger for even a second? I am at the part where they tell Roger that Bree was raped. Get a grip on yourself Jamie!”

Throwing out a question to their fellow fans, they asked: “What do you think are Jamie’s biggest blunders?” (sic)

Taking to the comments, one fan suggested: “Beating Roger to near death and selling him to the Indians. I was mortified when I watched that episode…”

Roger in Outlander

Outlander fans don't like the way Jamie treated Roger

Another Roger sympathiser added: “The worst thing that Jamie does is give Roger to the Mohawk. So okay, beating him was a heat of the moment thing, but Jamie was a prisoner and a forced laborer and it's horrifying that he would do that to another person, especially on fairly flimsy evidence.” (sic)

Other fans took issue with Jamie’s actions towards Claire, with one writing: “It wasn’t really his fault, but because of his actions, Claire had to go through maybe the hardest time of her life alone. He wasn’t there to help her through the horrible grief after Faith. I don’t think I would ever forgive that.” (sic)

“I personally hated it when he spanked Claire,” another fan fumed, as another agreed: “Maybe beating Claire. (Understand it all, but now when I have to choose one event, maybe it would be that one.)” (sic)

While a different fan admitted: “Berating Brianna (Sophie Skelton) after she was raped as being sullied and ruined really hit me different. I get it - different time, etc, etc - but reading/watching that as a modern woman was pretty difficult for me.” (sic)

Laoghaire in Outlander

Viewers weren't fans of Jamie's marriage to Laoghaire

Other fans slammed Jamie’s decision-making, with one reflecting: Helping Bonnet get away and escape the hangman. Baaaaaad move buddy.” (sic)

“Turning LJ over to the enemy!” another penned exasperatedly. (sic)

“Marrying Laoghrie and not pulling out when he slept with Geneva!” one more fan complained, as another agreed: “Marrying Laoghaire. Duh…” (sic)

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available on Starz and to stream on Prime Video channel MGM+ from Sunday, November 22. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
