When it comes to Christmas, who doesn’t love curling up on the sofa to watch a festive film? And there are so many to choose from. Some popular choices include Love Actually, Elf, Miracle on 34th Street, Gremlins and everybody’s beloved debate, Die Hard (it is a Christmas film).
Two other iconic movies that always deserve a re-watch are Home Alone, starring Macaulay Culkin, and Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Both very different but each with their own special message about what the festive season means to people.
And while it might be too early to start watching Christmas films (although there are only 61 days left) some people are just realising that Home Alone, which came out in 1990, and The Nightmare before Christmas, 1993, are actually linked.

Internet Unknown)Posting on Instagram, an account shared a collection of photos of stills taken from the films Beetlejuice one and two, Home Alone, and The Nightmare Before Christmas and sated: “We’re coming up to Catherine O’Hara season.”
Reacting to the collage people were stunned to realise that Canadian actress Catherine, 70, voiced the character of Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas, as well as playing Kevin's mum Kate McCallister in Home Alone. One person replied: “I was today years old when I found out that she played Sally.”
Another person agreed, adding “Wait! Catherine O’Hara is Sally?!?! How can I be a big NBC fan and a big CO fan and not know this?!?!” A second user wrote: “I would have sworn under penalty of perjury that Sally was voiced by Shelley Duvall. I’m gonna need a minute on this one…” And a third person exclaimed: “She was SALLY?! Mind blown.”
Other users shared more Catherine O’Hara facts including that she also played the character Shock in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Someone else added: “Pee-wee Herman was Lock, and Danny Elfman was Barrel! And the guy who played Otho in Beetlejuice was the mayor!”

Disney)In another post one user declared that the two movies also share a similar soundtrack. They wrote: “Reused Melody Home Alone & The Nightmare Before Christmas. I never knew till now the beginning musical intro of Home Alone (John Williams - Somewhere in my Memory) uses the same melody used in The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Most people weren’t overly convinced and despite sharing the two snippets readers of the post stated they couldn’t hear it, however, one believer replied: “Here is music from home alone. The second melody played sounds like ‘this is Halloween, this is Halloween’.”
