Lonely Pete Wicks is pining for pal Sam Thompson after he found himself saying sorry for still being in Strictly Come Dancing.
The reality TV star issued a statement as he apologised to fans after the weekend's controversial elimination. He lived to fight another day as he progressed to Musicals Week alongside his partner Jowita Pryzstal as Jamie Borthwick was eventually sent packing after he competed in the final two against Montell Douglas.
Pete finished at the bottom of the leaderboard, but was saved by the public who decide the contestants that will compete in the dance. It's been a tough time for him and he felt he had to get some things off his chest - and could have done with Sam around for some support.
His BFF is of course the King of the Jungle - and he's in the Outback helping ITV out in the studio. Taking to Instagram to share a snap of them, he wrote: "Things are f***** quiet without him. I'm disgusted in myself but I think I miss @samthompsonuk." Then he sweetly added: "Proud of you mate."
Following the Strictly fall out, Pete admitted he is aware he isn't the strongest dancer in the competition but is grateful to the public as he vowed to continue doing all he could. He said: "Firstly THANK YOU, I never expected to be anywhere near a quarter-final of this show and the fact that I am is purely down to you at home!
"I’m not sure why you’re voting but I’m so thankful that you are. I have put everything I can in to this for the past 3 months, I’ve thrown myself at it and I feel very blessed to be continuing this rollercoaster with Jowita. I'm not a dancer, i'm not a performer, I'm just a bloke trying to get a little bit better each week.
"I wish I could thank every single one of you individually. Secondly, trust me I know I’m not as good as the rest and I’m sorry for that but I’m trying my best, we all are. I’m just trying to improve and learn as I go. No one is more surprised that I’m still here than me.
"We’re all giving it 100% and no one wants to see any one go home. Whatever happens, all 15 of us that started this series of Strictly took a step outside of our comfort zone to try and learn something new and to put on a show. That’s all we wanted to do."
Pete and Sam's friendship has grown and grown. After the Made In Chelsea star was crowned the winner of I'm A Celeb 2023, Pete was there to greet him. Sam shared his gratitude for his closest pal and said: "Pete is the best mate anyone could ever ask for... I'm so lucky to have a friend like him."
They both took part in series six of Celebs Go Dating in 2019 and stayed in touch. They were paired up on the programme to help each other find dates and kept in contact after the dating show ended. The pals became known online for playing pranks and filming dances, with Pete's intolerance for Sam's joyful personality sending viewers into hysterics.
