Phillies Predicted To Trade $8M All-Star To Hated AL Contender In Shocking Move

The Houston Astros are reportedly looking to add a corner infielder to play opposite of trade acquisition Isaac Paredes. Paredes can play either corner infield spot, so a move to acquire a first baseman or a third baseman makes sense.

Houston reportedly tried to trade for St. Louis Cardinals Gold Glove third baseman Nolan Arenado, but Arenado allegedly used his no-trade clause to block the deal.

FanSided's Cody Williams pitched an interesting idea following this whiff. Williams suggested the Astros could swing a blockbuster trade for Philadelphia Phillies All-Star infielder Alec Bohm. The Phillies are reportedly looking to trade the young infielder.

"Bohm, on the other hand, was still a highly productive bat for Philadelphia, even with some high-profile cold spells. For the season, he posted a .280/.332/.448 slash line with 15 homers and 44 doubles," Williams wrote. "That would play, especially with the Crawford Boxes in left field potentially adding to his power numbers in Houston. It's, again, all about the trade price being right. But depending on what happens with exploring a Bregman reunion, it's something that Brown and the Astros front office need to deeply consider."

This is a very intriguing idea to dig into. The Phillies would likely be looking to acquire big-league talent in return. The Astros could offer expiring starting pitcher Framber Valdez in the deal to acquire Bohm plus more.

The groundwork for the trade is there and it pushes both teams in the direction they want to go in. I wouldn't be surprised to see these two teams begin preliminary trade talks for Bohm in the coming weeks.
