Piers Morgan shocked as Joe Biden nibbles on baby's leg during White House Halloween event

TV presenter Piers Morgan was left in disbelief on Wednesday night thanks to President Joe Biden sticking a baby's foot in his mouth and taking a nibble on the tot's leg.

Halloween in American is even more terrifying than usual thanks to the spookiest holiday of the year coinciding with the last few days of election campaigning. Democrat Kamala Harris, the current Vice President, and Republican Donald J. Trump, a former president, are currently pleading with voters ahead of yanks heading to the polls on Tuesday 5 November.

But until then, President Biden is still the man in charge. During the final days of his presidency, the 81-year-old is unwittingly pulling focus from Harris and Trump thanks to his antics. On Wednesday, Biden caused quite a stir with his antics as he appeared to take a playful bite of a baby's leg during a White House Halloween event

The child, donned in a chicken costume, seemed delighted as the President engaged, while its mum held the baby out for the bizarre photo op. The scene shows Biden also kissing another child's forehead and nibbling at another tot’s knee, much to the amusement or dismay of the online crowd.

Social media users were quick to react to the unusual move from Biden, with YouTuber Piers Morgan one of the many to express his dismay at the scene. Taking to Twitter (X) on Wednesday night the former Good Morning Britain anchor quote-tweeted the image of Biden biting a baby and added: "Sorry, WHAT??!!!!!!!!!! [shocked face emoji]"

Morgan wasn't the only one to comment on the weird moment, with another Twitter user quipping: "President Trump is mingling with garbage men at his rally in Wisconsin. Meanwhile, Joe Biden is literally BITING BABIES at the White House Halloween Party. WTF IS THIS TIMELINE? "

Others couldn't hold back their laughter, as a tweet read: "I can't stop laughing at this clip of Biden greeting a baby dressed as a chicken at the WH Halloween event while the most OMINOUS music plays." A third commenter was left incredulous, posting: "Someone call 911 immediately. JOE BIDEN JUST BIT A SECOND BABY AT THE WHITE HOUSE. This is NOT a joke. He stuck this second child's foot in his mouth three times!"

Elsewhere during the White House's Halloween bash, Biden pulled faces as kids showed off their costumes and his aides rushed to smooth over a recent controversy where Biden allegedly called Trump supporters "garbage". President Biden, 81, made a gaffe when speaking to a Latino advocacy group, referencing a distasteful joke from Trump's rally.

"Just the other day, a speaker at [Trump's] rally called Puerto Rico a 'floating island of garbage,'" he told attendees, referring to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's poorly received jest at Trump's event in New York City. The president then added, "The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters, his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it's un-American," further stating, "It's totally contrary to everything we've done, everything we've been."

Post the incident, White House officials have been in damage control, clarifying that Biden's use of "supporter's" with an apostrophe was meant to single out Hinchcliffe, not all Trump backers. However, the comment has already riled up Trump's base, with even Trump himself criticizing Biden's statement as being "worse" than Hillary Clinton's notorious 'deplorable' comment.

In response to the backlash, President Biden swiftly amended his earlier statement: "Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump's supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage - which is the only word I can think of to describe it," he clarified.

"His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That's all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don't reflect who we are as a nation," Biden said in a statement, stirring confusion and annoyance among both detractors and backers. In the meantime, Trump took advantage of the situation with a fresh outburst aimed at Biden during a Pennsylvania gathering.
