Pokimane doesn’t consider herself much of a Drake fan anymore.
In a clip circulating online, the 28-year-old streamer said she no longer loves Drizzy, 38, as much as she once did due to his endorsement of the online casino, Stake.
“When I heard Drake was involved with Stake, my heart broke, I’ma be honest,” Pokimane said on a recent stream. “Because I’ve been a little Drake fangirl, you know, the Canadian blood running through my veins—and I still love his music. Now I don’t love him as much as a person.”
As explained by the Express Tribune, the streamer, born Imane Anys, has been an outspoken critic of unlicensed gambling platforms, gambling content, and its harmful influence on younger audiences.
Her stance has put her at odds with fellow streamer xQc, who coincidentally had Drake as a guest on his Kick stream on Sunday. The streamer also reacted to her comments on Drake here.
Drake allegedly responded to Pokimane’s criticism of him during a LosPollosTV stream. As seen in a screenshot shared online, Drake reportedly wrote, “I watched the clip what’s she mad about? Is it the braids??!?,” a nod to Kendrick Lamar’s "Euphoria" diss track.
According to Forbes, Drake became a partner with Stake in 2022 and reportedly earns $100,000 annually from their partnership. The magazine also suggests that his compensation has more than likely increased in light of the platform’s success.
Also in 2022, Stake’s co-owner Eddie Craven began investing in Kick following Twitch’s ban on high-stakes casino streams, per Next.
