Prime Time presenter Fran McNulty has shared that his beloved mother FInola has passed away.

She passed peacefully on Saturday February 1st at home, surrounded by her family following a short illness.

The multi award winning television presenter posted to social media to pay tribute to his mother.

He said: "This week my [life] changed forever, the most loyal, loving and best mother I could have wished for is gone."

"Finola was a fixer, a doer, a fighter. And she fought to the very end."

"Two weeks notice is not enough. Tell your loved ones you love them, hold them, cherish them. Tomorrow may never come."

Finola is survived by her husband Francis, daughter Jillian, son Fran, daughter in law Doireann (O’Hara), brothers George, Ken, Declan and Joe, sisters in law, brother in law, nieces , nephews , relatives and friends.

The RTÉ journalist married Doireann O'Hara in a festive wedding in December 2024, and Fran shared a photo of him a nd his mum at the wedding.

The bride and groom paid tribute to the colleagues they sadly lost recently.

The Prime Time presenter added: "We all greatly missed though our former recently departed colleagues Rhona & Paul who no doubt whatsoever were watching it all from Heaven."

He told the RTÉ Guide: "Meeting Doireann is that second chance in life [his first marriage ended some six years ago] that you never think you'd get."
