Prince Harry's furious response to King Charles when Meghan Markle was 'banned' from Balmoral

2 weeks ago 3

Prince Harry was reportedly seething when informed that Meghan Markle could not accompany him to Balmoral in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II's passing.

Urged to make haste to Scotland on the final day of the Queen's life, Harry planned to journey from London with Meghan at his side. Yet, King Charles III firmly insisted otherwise.

In his explosive memoir 'Spare', Harry recounts: "He said I was welcome at Balmoral, but he didn't want... her. He started to lay out his reason, which was nonsensical, and disrespectful, and I wasn't having it."

Harry describes confronting his father about the remarks concerning Meghan, stating: "Don't ever speak about my wife that way... He stammered, apologetic, saying he simply didn't want a lot of people around. No other wives were coming, Kate wasn't coming, he said, therefore Meg shouldn't. Then that's all you needed to say."

While Prince William made his way to Balmoral alongside uncles Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, as well as Duchess Sophie, Princess Kate opted to remain with their children George, Charlotte, and Louis. With the Royal children starting at Lambrook School on September 8, Kate prioritised being there for them on such a significant day, reports the Mirror.

The Queen passed away peacefully at 15:10 on 8 September. Only Charles, Camilla and Princess Anne were able to see her before she died as they happened to be in Scotland for other engagements.

William, Andrew, Edward and Sophie arrived 40 minutes after her death, landing at 3:50pm. They then drove to Balmoral with the new Prince of Wales at the helm, arriving at 5.06pm.

Harry, on the other hand, departed Luton airport on a private jet around 5.30pm. He was still airborne when the announcement of the queen's death was made at 6.30pm.

Harry has since stated that he discovered his grandmother's passing after checking the internet while on the plane. In his book, he wrote that he had been reflecting on his last encounter with the Queen and their conversation when he received a notification on his phone.

"When the plane started to descend I saw that my phone lit up," he said. "It was a message from Meg: 'Call me when you get this.' I looked at the BBC website. My grandmother had died. My father was King."

Harry also shared how upon his arrival at Balmoral, his aunt Princess Anne guided him upstairs to "Granny's bedroom" so he could pay his respects.
