Princess Anne, known for her no-nonsense approach, is a favourite among Royal enthusiasts. The younger sister of King Charles, she has earned the title of 'hardest working royal' due to her extensive list of official engagements, often surpassing other senior royals.
According to YouGov, Princess Anne currently ranks third in popularity among the royals, with her late mother Queen Elizabeth still holding the top spot two years after her passing, and Kate Middleton coming in second. Her popularity was further solidified when she accompanied her mother's coffin from Balmoral back to London in 2022, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her mother and monarch until the end.
A vintage video of Princess Anne recently resurfaced on social media, featuring an interview with the late TV host Terry Wogan. In the clip, Wogan asks what she would do if the monarchy were abolished in the UK, and her response is quite straightforward.

Wogan asked, "What would you do if royalty was abolished? " To which Princess Anne responded with a chuckle, "I'd have to work even harder on the farm."
She was referring to Gatcombe Park, the estate where she has resided since 1976, which also operates as a working farm, reports the Mirror.
Wogan had the audience intrigued when he quizzed Princess Anne about alternative careers she might have considered. Her response: "out of necessity I qualified as a heavy-goods driver," explaining, "I was asked if there was anything I could do, if as you mentioned the Royal Family was abolished, and just like that, on the basis I didn't have a farm to work on and there was no other alternative, both my husband and I have heavy goods vehicle licenses...so it seemed like a very logical way of earning one's living."
The 1985 interview shone a light on several aspects of Royal life including engaging with the public, dealing with misrepresentation in the mediasomething Anne described as "pretty irritating"and speculation about her relationship with her sister-in-law, the late Princess Diana, which she dismissed as a "fairytale". The Princess Royal even injected some humour into the chat with her comment on schooling: "The great thing remember about tutors is there is really only you and them, and it requires an awful lot of concentration," sparking laughter from those present.
