The Real Housewives of Potomac star Matthew Byars has died at the age of 37.

The talent manager had appeared on the hit Bravo reality TV show during its third season. He was introduced to viewers by star Karen Huger. Matthew's best friend and Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga issued a heartbreaking statement following the news of his death.

She wrote: "Matt - Why didn't you tell me Matt? I'm heartbroken. Your personality was infectious. Your jokes - you always had them. You should have done stand up - I know it was your dream. My heart hurts Matt. Because earlier this week you didn't tell me. I know life was tough - I know - Thank you for bringing me my very 1st performance of 'ON DISPLAY' - you and I - WE ARE LOYAL.

"They don't make them like us. I wish I could have saved you. Thank you for the memories. Go fly - Go make them laugh." Real Housewives of Potomac's Charrisse Jackson-Jordan issued a tribute by sharing a picture of them both. She wrote: "Rest in Peace." During his appearance on the hit show, Matthew was part of Karen Huger's infamous "press conference".

Melissa Gorga shared a heartbreaking tribute

She tried to clear up rumours about her financial situation. Back in 2019, Karen revealed she had first met Matthew when he was a teenager. "A lot of people call me 'Mama Karen' in Potomac because I love helping young folk," she told The Daily Dash. "When life was trying to him, I reached out and told him to go to school, and he did, and now we work together."

She described their relationship as "true friends" and called him "like family". Karen brought Matthew onto The Real Housewives of Potomac for support as he co-stars were confused about who he was. Ashley Darby said she thought he was her lawyer. Matthew would appear in several other episodes throughout the show.

Shahs of Sunsets' Golnesa "GG" Gharachedaghi issued a tribute to Matthew as she wrote: "Noooo! I've known Matt since the beginning of being on TV as well. I did all my bookings around the nation together with him. What an amazing soul and kind human!" Real Housewives of New Jersey's Rachel Fuda added: "Such a deep loss. So sorry Melis. May he rest in peace and never be forgotten."
