Trigger Warning: This article contains a discussion of domestic violence charges.
Shortly after James Kennedy and his girlfriend, Ally Lewber, attended Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party, he was arrested. The Vanderpump Rules alum was arrested for a domestic violence incident involving Ally. And it seems that Bravo had an inkling that James’ behavior was reportedly out of control.
Bravo was investigating allegations that James Kennedy was “violent with women”
Page Six reported that one year before his arrest, Bravo was allegedly investigating claims that James behaved violently with women. An insider told Page Six that a whistleblower came forward in the fall of 2023. The whistleblower, who reportedly worked in production, brought forward allegations about James to the production company, Evolution Media, who makes Pump Rules.
The claims, which were not independently confirmed by Page Six, accused James of allegedly attacking more than one woman that he was involved with. These accusations had been hinted at in public, mentioned behind the scenes, or discussed during VPR tapings. Page Six reported that Bravo hired an attorney to launch an investigation.
Insiders told Page Six that the whistleblower was shocked when James appeared at BravoCon. Since the investigation hadn’t been completed, the whistleblower reportedly didn’t expect him to attend. We don’t know the results of the investigation, and since the entire cast was fired, it’s unclear if we will find out.
Reps for James Kennedy and Bravo did not return Page Six’s request for comment.
The details of James’ arrest are certainly troubling. According to the arrest log, James picked up Ally and tossed her on the ground. Following his arrest, James eventually spoke out via Instagram. “I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life. I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones,” James wrote.
Two of James Kennedy’s previous girlfriends alleged that he was abusive
Kristen Doute, who dated James from 2013 until 2015, reacted to his arrest via Instagram. She wrote the word “Finally” on a post about his arrest.
Then attorneys for Rachel Leviss, who was engaged to James, issued a statement. “We are aware of James Kennedy’s recent arrest for domestic violence. This news is, unfortunately, not surprising,” attorneys Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos, wrote. “Rachel’s lawsuit describes, in significant detail, Mr. Kennedy’s long history of erratic, violent behavior and substance abuse.”
The statement read, “Just as troubling, however, is that NBC and Evolution, who have known about Mr. Kennedy’s troubling behavior all along, have been engaged in a multi-year cover-up on his behalf.” The thought that James’ alleged behavior could have been covered up is sickening.
Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
