When Season 16 of Real Housewives of Atlanta started filming, Simon Guobadia threw a major wrench into the plan when he sent a cease and desist to the production team warning them not to film Porsha Williams inside of their marital home. Six months later, Porsha has finally scored a win. She’ll be allowed to film in the house, but is it a little too late for Season 16? Probably.
A small legal win for Porsha Williams against estranged husband Simon Guobadia
When Simon originally filed his cease and desist, Porsha fought back with an emergency order claiming that her RHOA job would be in jeopardy if she couldn’t film inside their home. You can’t be a Real Housewife and not let us see your house. According to a new report from Us Weekly, a judge agreed.
Throughout this ordeal, Porsha argued that exclusive access to the home was a condition of their prenup. Therefore, a court awarded her “temporary, sole and exclusive possession, use and occupancy” of the mansion.
According to the court order, Porsha can film and produce “TV, film, or social media on the premises.” Knowing Porsha, she’ll probably end up doing all three. After all, her return to RHOA was also coupled with a scripted deal with NBCUniversal.
Although this news is a positive update for Porsha, it would seem as if this is a little too late. Filming for Season 16 of RHOA began in May and production is winding down. Unless they plan on filming the reunion inside Porsha’s house, it doesn’t seem like this court ruling will impact Season 16. Perhaps we’ll see it in Season 17.
Real Housewives of Atlanta is expected to return in early 2025.
