Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddi Mellencamp filed for divorce from Edwin Arroyave, announcing the decision on social media just one day later.
Teddi, 43, filed for dissolution of marriage from Edwin, 47, on November 1, according to legal documents obtained by In Touch. The Bravo star cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split and listed their separation date as October 20.
In addition, Teddi asked for spousal support but requested to terminate the court’s ability to award support to her ex. She also asked for primary legal and physical custody of their three kids — Slate, 12, Cruz, 10 and Dove, 4 — with “reasonable and frequent” visitation being granted for Edwin, and that he be financially responsible for all attorney’s fees and costs.
One day later, the mom of three announced her divorce from Edwin in a lengthy social media post.
“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” she wrote via Instagram on November 2. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.”
She continued, “Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.”
That same day, the reality TV star was spotted walking down the street in Los Angeles, seemingly seen wearing her wedding ring while on a phone call. During the outing, she dressed casually, wearing an oversized beige hoodie, a Dodger’s cap and a pair of sneakers.
Although Edwin has not broken his silence on the split directly, he shared a cryptic post on November 3 — a screenshot from an app tracking his sleep, revealing he had nine hours and 10 minutes of rest with an “optimal” sleep score.
“I recently spoke about just getting 3 hours of sleep a night,” he wrote in a caption. “Finally got some rest!”
Hours later, he shared a photo of himself at a hot yoga studio. “You’re not always going to be motivated or inspired. That’s where rituals & habits come in,” he wrote. “Having good habits is what will get you through your dark days. It’s when you’re under pressure that your true character is revealed.”
The daughter of legendary musician John Mellencamp shared in 2019 that when she first met Edwin, he didn’t believe in marriage — but they eventually made it down the aisle in 2011.
“He came home and he had tears in his eyes, and I had never really seen him cry before,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle at the time. “And he just put a blank check down on the bedside table, and he was like, ‘Hey, I just wanted to tell you that I love you and I went to go buy the ring today. I’m sorry. I just don’t believe in marriage and I don’t want you to break up with me.'”
Although she said she felt “like the life had been sucked” out of her after hearing that, Edwin proposed the following day on Christmas Eve. “Your mind plays tricks on you, and at the end of the day, I knew that this was the girl that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” the dad of three told the outlet.
