RHOSLC’s Bronwyn Newport Details ‘Scary’ Holiday in the Hospital

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Bronwyn Newport has spent more than her fair share in hospitals this year.

Unfortunately, Bronwyn’s vicious dog attack wasn’t the only recent medical emergency in her family. Doctors discovered that her mom had a brain tumor that required surgery. Bronwyn spent Christmas by her mom’s side and provided updates on the scary situation.

Bronwyn posted some Instagram Stories to update fans on her mom’s condition. Her December 26 Story began, “I hope everyone that celebrates had a very merry Christmas! A month ago my dad (who has Alzheimer’s) fell and broke his pelvis. It put an incredible strain on my mom, who has, for almost ten years insisted on being his sole caretaker.”

She continued, “We noticed more and more that she was struggling to manage what is his normal care required plus the injury.”

Bronwyn and her sister tried to help and hired live-in caregivers, but her mom’s condition worsened. She revealed, “After a few falls herself and a few doctor visits that weren’t productive something clicked in my brain. My mom had similar dizzy, confused, and exhausted symptoms almost 30 years ago when she had a brain tumor.”

Bronwyn’s mom was taken to a California hospital after a bad day. Bronwyn explained, “I went straight there from the airport and we received the bad news I was both expecting and not. I don’t remember everything from when my mom was so sick when I was little but something also felt oddly familiar. My mom again has a tumor in the back of her skull, in an almost identical location to the one she had Thanksgiving week almost 30 years ago.”

Bronwyn shared a follow-up. “She’s going into major surgery today and we are so hopeful after a long recovery she’ll be her usual, feisty and amazing self.”
