Rihanna Confesses She ‘Didn’t Drink All Year’ While Welcoming 2025

Rihanna’s sober welcome to 2025 was accompanied by a celebratory Instagram post and confession, announcing her “New Year, New Me” era. The singer rang in the new year with friends and posted a video of the countdown. As soon as the clock struck 12, she confessed that she abstained from consuming alcohol throughout 2024. Their celebrations also seemed quite lowkey as she and her friends stayed indoors to kick off what would be another eventful year for her.

The countdown for 2025 was more special than it seemed for Rihanna, who began the new year with a candid confession on Instagram. In a celebratory post to ring in the year, she shared a short clip of the countdown while celebrating with friends in what appeared to be an intimate gathering. As soon as the clock struck 12, the mom of two announced, “Y’all, I didn’t drink all year. I didn’t drink all year.” She made the revelation while holding another phone to show the annual Times Square ball drop in New York City as she recorded the video with the other.

Cara Delevingne was one among thousands who commented on the post to extend their wishes to the singer. Delevingne joined in on her sobriety celebrations, writing, “Let’s gooo!” with the confetti emoji. However, other commenters tried to one up Rihanna by dropping remarks that primarily addressed the release of a new album. One individual commented, “I thought it was the countdown for the album drop,” while another wrote, “New year new music? Okay.”

Several other comments were in reference to Rihanna’s caption, “New Year, New Me.” One such comment stated, “New year new me? SO THATS NEW MUSIC RIGHT,” and another read, “New year. new album?” while a third raised the question, “Does this version drop music?”

It would seem that besides going sober, the Fenty Beauty founder also went on a cleansing spree. On New Year’s Eve, she posted a video of cleaning her hair extensions with the caption, “De Dirt!!! We walking into 2025 CLEANSED baby! 1 track at a time!”
